Tyre-Wise Fees Update

The New Zealand Government has introduced Tyre Wise, a program designed to address the environmental impact of end-of-life tyres. The initiative ensures that tyres are responsibly disposed of, recycled, or reused, helping to reduce landfill waste and promote environmental sustainability. A small fee is applied to each tyre imported into New Zealand, which supports these efforts.

Currently, we are being charged $13.30 per tyre, which is higher than the industry average. As we dispute these costs, we will only pass on the same fee that our competitors are charging, which is $6.65 + GST per tyre.

We are also working hard behind the scenes to see if we can further reduce these costs. As you know, go-kart tyres are extremely small and have a much lower environmental impact compared to car tyres, and we believe the fees should reflect that difference.
